Comedian Jo Koy has announced his ALL-NEW JO KOY: JUST BEING KOY TOUR that will include a stop at Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts on October 19.

Earlier this month, the 2024 DPAC Rising Star Awards took place at the Durham Performing Arts Center. This regional competition brings together high school musical theater students from Central and Eastern North Carolina to perform and compete for the chance to represent the Triangle in The National High School Musical Theater (otherwise known as The Jimmy) Awards in New York City on June 24th.

Two months into college, I auditioned for The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. I was not cast in the show. After moving on from the frustration of rejection, I began to say “yes” to every opportunity that presented itself. These led to new experiences, a job, and an exciting internship! We spoke to Julie Benko about starring in Jane Eyre opposite Matt Bogart and directed by Megan McGinnis. Jane Eyre is written by John Caird and Paul Gordon. 

Based on Disney’s 1994 animated film musical of the same name, The Lion King tells the story of Simba, a young lion who is supposed to succeed his father, Mufasa, as King of Pride Rock. But when Simba's uncle, Scar, kills Mufasa, Simba runs away from home after being tricked into thinking that he was responsible. As he comes of age, Simba learns some valuable perspective to go back and take his rightful place as King.

We chat with director Wayne R. Scott about Anne of Green Gables at LifeHouse Theater. He is a writer, composer, producer and director who has authored 30 original musicals and numerous other widely produced works.  He has also produced and directed nine musicals at the internationally known Redlands Bowl, including Annie, The Sound of Music, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, The Wizard of Oz, Disney’s The Little Mermaid, and most recently, Disney’s Mary Poppins for the Redlands Community Music Association.

On May 9th, 2024, DPAC presented The DPAC Rising Star Awards, central North Carolina's High School Musical Theatre Awards, with host Clay Aiken. Alex Fluker from Panther Creek High School won the coveted DPAC Rising Stars Best Actress award and Conor Kruger from Enloe High School won the DPAC Rising Stars Best Actor award.
